Born in Poland to Chaya Endel Sussman Lanienter and Aby Lanienter, she came to the United States at the age of fourteen leaving her mother, who was not well, in Poland as the United States would not let her come in. Her father, who'd been living in Detroit, changed his name to Lantor. She was the youngest of four children and the only one to graduate high school. She said her father cried. She worked hard to lose her accent and become and American.
She married Isadore Goldfarb on March 24, 1935 and they had three children: Arlene married to Larry Wenokur, Dianne married to Henri Mouradian and Michael Gold, married to Claire Lichtenstein. She had six grandchildren, Alan Wenokur, Shari Wenokur Smith, Robert (Bob) Wenokur, Daniel Mouradian, Karen Mouradian Diskin and Marc Mouradian She had fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and also worked with her husband in their menswear store. She volunteered at Blood Bank from B'nai Brith. She helped at her children's schools and she loved to bake. She loved color and wore bright colors and had an eye for fashion and decorating.
