Pauline Ruben Rosenfeld Shaffer
February 14, 1913- November 26, 1992

Pauline was born on February 14, 1913 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1928, she was considered to be "the baby of Ohio State University co-eds" at age 15. She registered in the pre-law arts course expecting to be a lawyer by the time she was 21. This did not occur.

Pauline married Dr. Samuel Rosenfeld on June 7, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio. They had 3 children: Robert Clayton Rosenfeld was born January 1, 1934, Joyce Arlene Rosenfeld was born June 23, 1938, and Jerald Alan Rosenfeld was born November 7, 1944 and died January 18, 2014.

Robert married Beverly Goldstein from Detroit, Michigan on August 7, 1955. They have 2 daughters: Shari Lynn Rosenfeld is married to Albert Goldstein and they have 2 children: Dr. Michael Philip Goldstein married Sarah Golabek-Goldman on September 2, 2018 and Lauren Rachel Goldstein. Susan Renee is married to Eli Cooper. She has a son, Ryan Samuel and Eli has 2 children, Max and Lauren.

Joyce married Leonard Schiff from Columbus, Ohio on December 29, 1957. They have 3 children: Patricia Allison is married to Dr. Michael Brawer, Randall Stephen married to Cathy Weinstein, and Amy Debra married Scott Ackerstein.

Pauline's mother was Rose Block Ruben, born November 17, 1894 in New York City. She married Saul Ruben, born 1884 in Russia (Pale of Settlement) and they had 6 children: Jeanette, Pauline, Lou, twins Bernard and Bertha, and Selma. Rose Block had 6 brothers and 1 sister: Joseph, Jacob, Abe, George, Saul, Lou, and Dorothy Block Baum.

Saul Ruben's parents were Martha Nupuff and Harry Ruben who were born in Lithuania, came to this country and married in Columbus, Ohio. Harry and Martha had 6 children: Saul, Max, Minnie, Sarah, Anna, and Mary.

Pauline's husband Sam passed away December 7, 1949. She remarried Harry Shaffer from Cleveland, Ohio in June, 1953. He died in 1985 after 32 years of marriage.
