Joseph Radner was born on December 21, 1902 in New York, New York, and died on February 20, 1972. He was a pharmacist, real estate investor and partners in the Statler Hotel in Buffalo, New York with his brother, Herman Radner. (Herman is the father of Gilda Radner, a comedienne and actress, and one of the original cast members of Saturday Night Live.) He married Ceil Ruth (Friedman) Radner, and together they had three children, Suzanne (Susie) Radner, Robert Radner and Howard Radner. Joseph Radner was a member of Shaarey Zedek and was also a Shriner. He enjoyed golf and belonged to Knollwood and Franklin Hills Country Clubs. He loved to travel to the Knollwood Lodge in Northern Michigan during the summer months with his grandchildren.
